What is a ZIP file, and how do I use it?
A ZIP file is a compressed folder that contains multiple files. To access its contents:
- For Windows: Use built-in extraction tools or third-party software like WinRAR or 7-Zip.
- For Mac: Simply double-click the ZIP file to automatically unzip it.
Once extracted, you’ll find Adobe Illustrator (.AI) files, PNG mockup files, and a limited usage agreement.
What should I do if my downloaded files are corrupt or not working?
If your extracted files appear corrupted or have filenames starting with "._", here’s what you can do:
- Remove the period and underscore from the filename.
- If the issue persists, delete the folder and re-download the files using the link provided in your confirmation email or the "My Downloads" section of your account.
- Software and Editing
What software do I need to use vector clothing mockups?
Our mockup packs are optimized for Adobe Illustrator. However, if you don’t have Illustrator, you can use the PNG files with software like Photoshop, Photopea, or Affinity.
For guidance, you can find tutorials on platforms like YouTube to help you edit PNG files in these applications.
Why can’t I edit my mockups in Adobe Illustrator?
If you’re having trouble editing your mockups:
- Make sure you’re using the .AI file provided, not the PNG files. PNGs are flat images and can’t be edited in the same way vectors can.
- Open the .AI file in Illustrator to make the necessary edits.
How can I ungroup vector mockups in Adobe Illustrator?
To ungroup vector mockups and edit individual components:
- Select the garment, right-click, and choose "Ungroup."
- Alternatively, double-click the garment to enter isolation mode, where you can edit individual elements. To exit isolation mode, double-click anywhere on the artboard.
- You can also hold the Command key (Mac) or Ctrl (PC) and click any shape or line on the garment to select it directly.
- Production and Manufacturing
How do I submit mockups to a manufacturer?
To submit your mockups to a manufacturer, provide a file that includes your complete mockup with all relevant details and instructions, if applicable. Additionally, send separate files for each individual graphic along with any associated details or specifications.
For example, if you’re submitting a hoodie design with three graphics in different locations, you should provide:
- A file of the complete mockup.
- Individual files for each graphic.
- Relevant details and instructions (e.g., placement, size, colors).
Make sure all files are high-quality. Formats like PNG or PDF are typically recommended. If your mockup or graphics appear pixelated, adjust the resolution or increase the graphic size in your design software before exporting.
*NOTE: For the best results, use a tech pack alongside your mockups. A tech pack is a comprehensive document that contains all the details a manufacturer needs, including mockups, measurements, materials, colors, and more. It ensures your design is executed accurately. We also provide tech pack templates!
What is a tech pack, and why is it important?
A tech pack, short for "technical package," is a detailed document used in the apparel manufacturing process. It acts as a blueprint for your design, providing all the necessary information a manufacturer needs to produce your product accurately. Think of it as the bridge between your creative vision and the practical execution of your design.
It includes all the essential information about your product, such as:
- Mockups and visuals.
- Measurements and sizing.
- Fabric and material details.
- Color specifications.
- Instructions for placement of graphics and trims.
Using a tech pack helps minimize errors, miscommunication, and costly revisions during production. It ensures that your manufacturer understands your design thoroughly.
